Agnes Martin

Agnes Ilene (Brion) Martin, 83, of Plainview, passed away on July 20, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, St. Mary’s Campus. She was born on February 7, 1934 in Durand, Wisconsin. She graduated from Durand High School and St. Mary’s Nursing School in Rochester. She married Jerry Martin, July 14, 1956 in Durand. They moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where they started their family and her nursing work supported them while Jerry completed his college degree. They moved to Plainview in 1966 and Agnes continued her nursing career at the Mayo Clinic. After her retirement from nursing she started her creative wood and wreath business at craft shows. Later she opened her dream business, the Country Life, in Plainview in 1992 and operated until her retirement in 2007. Agnes was a creative talent and had a passion for style. She was skilled in painting, wood working, ceramics and sewing. Her passion was home decorating and serving her clients. She is survived by husband Jerry; children Roberta (Gary) Heitkamp, Roy (Lisa) Martin and Brian (Carrie) Martin; grandchildren Sara, Joe, Chris, Margaret, Rebecca, Jennifer and Ben; sisters, Helen Wittig and Henrietta Guilliame; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Agnes (Berger) Brion, brothers Louis and Francis and sister Lucy Owen. Memorial mass will be Friday, August 4, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview with Father William Becker officiating.
