Anna K. Bedtka McDougall, 89, of Rochester, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview. Anna Katherine Schrader was born June 22, 1926 in Eldorado, Iowa to Otto and Sophia (Glandorf) Schrader. She was baptized and confirmed in Eldorado at St. Peter Lutheran Church. She went to Eldorado elementary and graduated in 1945 from West Union, Iowa High School. She moved to Rochester and worked for the Mayo Clinic for 3 ½ years. On October 24, 1948 she was united in marriage to Wesley F. Bedtka of St. Charles, MN at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado, Iowa. The couple had two children Suzanne and Kenneth. They farmed for 8 years near Kingsley corners, Quincy Township, and then bought a farm near Viola, MN and lived there for 11 years until Wesley’s death in 1966. Anna moved back to Rochester in 1967 and worked for ABC for 3 years and then went to International Transport for 16 years. She also worked at (Libbys) Seneca in Rochester until she retired. She was a charter member her married life at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Rochester and was a member of the St. Charles Auxiliary. Anna enjoyed gardening, taking care of chickens and canning when she was on the farm. When she moved back to Rochester she enjoyed embroidering and reading the newspaper. She made many beautiful things in double cross stitch and gave some to the grandchildren. In 1977 she married Ernie McDougall and they made their home in Rochester. He passed away in 1999. Survivors include her two children, Suzanne Zabel of Plainview and Kenneth (Sue) Bedtka of Elgin. 1 sister, Shirley Eberling of Postville, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, Darl of Plainview, Wendy of Rochester, Jeffrey and Amanda of Elgin, Kenneth of Rochester, Brenda Ingersoll of Winona and Colleen of Winona; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Sophia Schrader, husbands, Wesley Bedtka and Ernie McDougall, an infant granddaughter, Patricia, and son-in-law, Norbert Zabel. Funeral service is Wednesday, August 5, 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Rochester with Rev. Fred Rengstorf officiating. Burial will be at Little Valley Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, 5-7 p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials to Our Saviors Lutheran Church are preferred.
