Archie Ivan Evans, 79, of Eyota, died peacefully, in his home, October 4, 2015. Archie was born February 16, 1936, in Quincy Township, rural Dover, to Ivan and Florence (Selke) Evans. Archie lived on the farm until graduating from Plainview High School in 1954. He joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1954-1958. In October 1959, Archie started his career at IBM. On November 28, 1959 he was united in marriage to Audrey Asher in Eyota. They resided in Eyota. Archie retired from IBM October 5, 1984, later returning to IBM and continued working for three more years. Archie enjoyed many years of fishing, snowmobiling and motorcycling. They had a cabin in Siren, WI from 1980-2005. In the winter they went to Arizona and spent summers in Eyota and at the Lazy D Campground in Elba where he enjoyed his friends and family. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Club and VFW. Archie is survived by his wife, Audrey of Eyota; children; Debra (Sheldon) Wehrhan of Austin, Steven (Kristie) Evans of Eyota and David (Tammy) Evans of Eyota; 10 grandchildren, Jamie (Megan) Larson, Nicole (Brad) Hulet, Derek (Ashley) Ehmke, Brittany (Zebadiah) Henaman, Brandon (Elaina) Evans, Zac Littlefield, Caitlin Wehrhan, Jeremy Evans, Arik Littlefield and Dylan Wehrhan; 10 great-grandchildren, Kadin, Karli, Joshua, Gabriel, Alivja, Braxton, Sydney, Carter, Noah and Sawyer; 1 sister, Carol Graner of Plainview and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service is Saturday, October 10, 11:00 am at Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota with Rev. Mark Woodward officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, 4-7 pm at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
