Ardeth J. Longsworth, 85, of Plainview passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview while under hospice care. Ardeth was born August 19, 1933 in Plainview, the daughter of Robert and Erma (Polikowski) Stephan. Ardeth graduated from Plainview High School. She was united in marriage to Russell Longsworth on January 1, 1954, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview. They farmed until making Plainview their home, where they raised one child. Ardeth was Immanuel Lutheran Church secretary for 30 years. She also worked as a legal secretary for Gerber law firm in Plainview. Ardeth enjoyed playing cards, traveling and baking. She loved dogs and cats. She also enjoyed helping others, such as Meals-on Wheels, the bake sale, volunteering at the nursing home. She and her husband did foster care and also helped with the Red Cross blood drives. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Candace (Marty) Robertson of Rochester; two grandchildren, Tonya Laden and Christian Booker and two step-grandchildren, Ted Van Cleave and Teresa Robertson; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one brother Robert Stephan Jr. of Stewartville. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Russell. Funeral service is Monday, December 17, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin with Rev. Terrill Bramstedt officiating. Burial is at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Visitation is Monday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
