Arnold (Bud) Crary

Arnold (Bud) Crary, 94, died Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview.

Arnold Roy Crary was born August 22, 1929, in Lake City, MN to Roy and Mildred (Spring) Crary. The family then lived in Herman, MN, then moved to a farm NW of Rochester for 2 years, then to a farm SW of Rochester and finally to a farm south of Plainview. At the age of 14, Arnold started farming with his dad. On December 12, 1952, he married Eleanor Mensink in Cherry Grove, MN. They raised 4 boys and farmed in the Plainview area until retirement.

In his retirement, he and Eleanor traveled south for a few weeks most winters. They visited friends and family in Florida, Texas, Arizona, and Tennessee. Arnold liked to play cards and made weekly visits to Minneiska and the Plainview Community Center to play 500.

Arnold is survived by 3 sons, Dennis (Karen) Crary, Kevin Crary and Kent (Verna) Crary all of Plainview. Grandchildren, Mitchell, Brent, CarriJean, Erian, Andrea, Adam, Christina, Joshua, Tyler and Benjamin. Step grandchildren, April and Nicholas; 28 great-grandchildren and 3 sisters, Elaine Friedrich, Shila Stahl and Myra Richardson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Eleanor, son, Bruce and 2 sisters, Ione Breidel and Sharon Wood.

Funeral services are Friday, September 29, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Peace United Methodist Church with Pastor Abigail Ozanne officiating. Burial will follow at the Elgin Cemetery. The visitation is Thursday 5-7 p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
