Arthur L. Pries, 87, of Eyota passed away January 25, 2015 at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. Arthur was a life-long resident of Olmsted County. He was born on May 9, 1927 to Arthur J. and Clara L. (Biersdorf) Pries and raised in Viola Township. He attended Eyota elementary and high school. On December 30, 1951 he married Marian C. Kidd and they farmed for 44 years. Marian died October 1, 2002. His retirement years were spent in Eyota during the summer and as a snowbird in St. Petersburg, Florida during the winter. Arthur was an avid fisherman and enjoyed assembling jigsaw puzzles, hunting, playing cards, and while in Florida, also bowling and shuffle boarding. He was a Navy veteran, a member of the Faith United Methodist Church of Eyota, The Eyota American Legion, and past member of the Eyota Sportsman Club. Mr. Pries is survived by his children; Pennie Pries of Rochester, John (Norma) Pries of Eyota and Paul Pries of West Bend, WI, two grandchildren; Jessica (Peter) Desens and Joshua Pries of Eyota, two great grandchildren; Matthew and Samantha Desens, and 1 sister; Geraldine (Donald) Ihrke of St. Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister, Mildred (Paul) Campbell. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31, at Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota with Rev. Mark Woodward officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Viola Township, with military graveside rites conducted by the Eyota American Legion. Visitation is Friday, 4-8 p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
