Arvid Lee Hassig

Arvid Lee Hassig, age 75 of Plainview MN, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2025.

Arvid was born February 27, 1950, in Wabasha, MN to Dean and Margaret (Sullivan) Hassig. He grew up in the Plainview area on the family farm, where his parents and his 6 siblings helped farm. 4H Softball was an activity he was involved in. After graduating from Plainview High school in 1968, he continued to work on the farm. He married Leita Kreidermacher in 1976.  He adopted her son and had 3 more of his own.

When he was not working on the farm he went hunting and fishing. His favorite car was a  green AMC Javelin with 4 on the floor with a 390.  Arvid was also an active member of St Joachim Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus and was a former Grand Knight. He left the family farm in the late 1990’s when he moved to Elgin but continued to work on other farms.

Along with his wife, Arvid is survived by his children; Jerry, Andy, Deanne, and Marty Brothers Dwain and Tom, ten Grandchildren and three Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Deane and Margaret Hassig. Sister’s Janice Wolfe and Dorain Costello, and brothers, Ralph, Richard, and David.

Funeral mass is Thursday, June 26, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview with Father Tojy Jose officiating. The burial will follow at St. Joachim’s Catholic Cemetery. The visitation is Thursday, 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
