Avalon Welch

Avalon Ione Gilbertsen Welch, age 89, passed away June 4th, 2026. Avalon was born January 23, 1937, in Minneapolis Minnesota to Norman and Helen (Kallstrom) Gilbertsen. She graduated from Minneapolis North High School in 1954. Graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Education, 1958. Avalon taught Elementary Special Education during her many years of teaching for the Minneapolis Public School System. She was a long-time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, member of the Eastern Star and Sons of Norway. Avalon was very proud of her Norwegian Heritage. She is survived by her two daughters, Julie (Tom Miller) Welch, Karen (Mark) Jurgenson. Grandchildren, Jennifer Lowe, Katie (Wesley Revak) Lowe, Alex Jurgenson, Larissa Jurgenson, Kalista Jurgenson. Great grandson’s Dash and Kaiser Revak. Preceded in death by her parents and great grandson’s Logan and Ozzie (Lowe) Pieper. Private internment to be held at a later date.
