She attended country school. On October 15, 1945 she married Cedric Ellis at the
Root Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Fountain. They owned and operated a farm in
She was a longtime member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota. Avis was
also a member of the Rural Robins Ladies Club. She enjoyed her flower gardens, the
birds, music and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children; Marla (Gene) Hovde of Woodbury, MN and Maria
Mayer of Lancaster, Ohio; granddaughter, Bridget Kruger of Kellogg; and son-in-law,
Chuck Kruger of Kellogg.
Avis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cedric; 2 daughters, Neva
Ellis and Nancy Kruger; 1 grandson, Eric Kruger; and 2 brothers, Jerry and Laverne
Asleson.
Funeral service is Saturday, December 21, 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church
in Eyota with Rev. Mark Woodward officiating. Burial is at Sumner Presbyterian
Cemetery, rural Chatfield. Visitation is Saturday, 1 hour prior to the service at the
church.
