Betty Lou Brobst

Betty Lou Brobst, 83, of Eyota, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield. Betty was born September 12, 1931 in Elgin to Lloyd and Irene (Adler) Dobrinz. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1949. On September 17, 1950 she married Bill Brobst in Elgin. They lived in Elgin for 1 year, and then moved to Eyota, living in town for 11 years. They then moved to the farm east of Eyota where they currently live. Betty did the secretarial work for 40 years for the family business, Brobst Feed Service. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an amazing cook, and enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, playing cards, bowling and shooting pool. Betty is survived by her husband, Bill of Eyota; children, Darrell (Kelly) Brobst of Abilene, TX., and Kent Brobst of Dover; grandchildren, Scott Lehnertz, Ben (Kelly) Brobst, Dana (Dia) Wikner, John Wikner and Jennifer Brobst; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois (Herman) Plattner of Texarkana, TX., and Norma Matheson of St. Paul. She is preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Deborah Wikner, 2 sisters, Eleen Ihrke and JoAn Wedge; 1 brother, Don Dobrinz. Funeral service is Saturday, March 28, 3:00 pm at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Eyota with Rev. Jonathan Vollrath officiating. Burial is at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Eyota. Visitation is Friday, 4-8 pm at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
