Beverly Folkert

Beverly Joanne Folkert, 88, of Plainview, Minnesota passed away on March 30, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, St. Mary’s Campus. Beverly was born to Fred and Ella (Spring) Schmiedeberg on August 10, 1928 in Wabasha County, Elgin Township. She attended Country School through 8th grade. On September 21, 1950 she married Orville Folkert at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview. Together they made their home in rural Plainview and raised four children. Beverly farmed side by side with her husband Orville until they retired in 1987 and moved into Plainview. For many years they wintered in Florida. She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Dorcas Club and the ILCW. Beverly was an avid Minnesota Twins Fan and enjoyed needle point, quilting, gardening, playing cards and doing yard work. Orville passed away on December 12, 2014. She is survived by her four children; Karen Folkert of Lake City, Gary (Carla) Folkert of Elgin, Wayne (Anna) Folkert of Plainview and Janine (Bruce) Jorgenson of Wabasha; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and three sisters. There will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family burial will be Tuesday, April 4 at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview with Pastor Phil Augustine officiating.
