Charles A. Ebling, 96, died Saturday, May 26 at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield. Charles was born April 27, 1922 in Wabasha County to Karl and Lillian (Tradup) Ebling. He served in the U.S. Army, during WWII in the European Theatre as a tank driver. He farmed all his life in Viola Township, first with his parents, then with his brother until 1992, when he retired and moved to Plainview. In 2004 he moved to Rochester and lived with his niece Barb. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview and the Elgin American Legion. Charles is survived by two sisters, Helen Keller of Plainview and Ida Brakke of Rochester; 6 nieces and 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Karl. Funeral service is Thursday, May 31, 2:00 p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview with Pastor Phil Augustine officiating. Burial is at Oak Hill Cemetery, Viola. Visitation is Thursday, 1hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Plainview American Legion.
