Clayton E. McDougall age 93 of Eyota, MN passed away April 12, 2016 at
the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.
Clayton was born May 10, 1922 on a farm near Beaver, Minnesota to Nina
and Clarence McDougall. He attended school in Beaver Valley and
graduated from St. Charles High School in 1940. After high school Clayton
farmed, and operated McDougall’s Trucking in the Eyota area.
On February 5, 1944. Clayton married Beatrice Martin of St. Charles. They
were blessed with two sons, Clair and Duane. Bea and Clayton were
devoted to each other for 65 years until Bea passed away in 2009.
After retiring from farming Clayton enjoyed spending time at his lake
cabins, and having breakfast with his buddies at the Country Café, where
he was known as the historian. Blowing snow for neighbors and caring for
lawns and trees kept him active in his later years. He enjoyed long drives
through the countryside where he kept his eyes alert for wildlife, and
shared his memories of the past.
He was proudest of his family; sons, grandchildren, and great-
grandchildren. He is survived by two sons, Clair McDougall of Roswell, GA,
and Duane (Cheryl) McDougall of Glencoe, MN; five grandchildren Debbie
(Derek) Lindblom of Eldorado Hills, CA, Douglas (Jessica) McDougall of
Atlanta, GA, Shannon (Billy) Sherman of New Prague, MN, Kyle McDougall
of Cold Spring, MN; Grace Norby of Zimmerman, MN; twelve great-
grandchildren; one brother-in-law Clair (Joan) Martin of St. Charles and
many nieces, nephews, and long-time friends. He was proceeded in death
by his parents, wife Beatrice, brother Ernie McDougall, grandson Ron
Taylor, and many brother in laws and sister in laws.
The funeral service for Clayton will be Saturday, April 16, 2016, 11:00 a.m.
at Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota with Rev. Mark Woodward
officiating. Burial will be at the Saratoga Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, 5-8
p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota and one hour prior to the
service at the church on Saturday.
