David Gergen

David Paul Gergen, 70 of Dover passed away on Decmeber 16, 2019 at his home. David was born in Hastings, MN on March 1, 1949 to Alois and Marian Gergen. He graduated from Randolph High School and attended Winona State University for two years. He enlisted in the US Army and served at Ft. Richardson in Alaska for two years during the Vietnam era. On March 21, 1976 he married Julie Brage in Cannon Falls, MN. He was employed at IBM – Rochester and with the US Postal Service for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Eyota American Legion and Rochester Eagles Club. He enjoyed beating anyone who was willing to play him in cards, doing crossword puzzles and spending quality time with his family. David is survived by his wife Julie of Dover, daughter Ellen (Brian) Wedewer, son Lincoln (Melissa) Gergen and three precious granddaughters Elyse Wedewer and Vivian and Greta Gergen who thought he was pretty special. Also surviving him is sister Mary Marko, brothers Wayne (Lynda) Gergen and Glenn Gergen along with countless nieces and nephews. There will be a visition at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Eyota on Thursday, December 19 from 9:30-11am with funeral service immediately following. Burial will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Dover. Memorials will be donated to a charity special to David. Schad & Zabel Funeral Home, Eyota, is in charge of arrangements.
