David Lee Higgins, 71, of Eyota passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by family on Thursday August 30, 2018. David was born on April 4, 1947 to Lester and Inez (Nichols) Higgins. He has lived in Eyota his entire life graduating from Dover-Eyota High School in 1965. He married Dawn Raddatz on June 3, 1967. He was self-employed as Dave Higgins Home Builder from 1971 until his retirement from Higgins Custom Cabinetry in 2006. Dave is survived by his wife, Dawn, his son Darcy (Jennifer) Higgins and his daughter Darla (Eric) Hershey all of Eyota. Grandchildren Danielle and Caitlin Higgins, Bryce (Krista) Johnson, Parker and Miranda Little, and Co l lin and Caylee Hershey; Great grandchildren Kelsey, Carly, Lucus, Courtney and Logan Johnson; Sisters Marilyn (Loren) Hoffman of Rochester, Patricia Grethen of Eyota; Brothers Lester “Dale” (LeAnn) Higgins of Apache Junction, AZ and Gerald Higgins of Spring Valley and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Norman Grethen and sister-in-law, Linda Higgins. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday September 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Rochester with Pastor Dwight LaPine officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Visitation will be on Tuesday September 4th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home, Eyota Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
