David Dale Marshik 83 passed Saturday December 16, 2023, at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview, MN. He was born to Leonard (Leo) and Gertrude (Zimny) Marshik in rural Pierz, MN. on October 16, 1940. He graduated salutatorian from Father Pierz Memorial High School in 1958. He married Valerie McCarty in Pierz MN in 1959 and they made their home in St. Paul Park, MN.
David worked at Armour Meat Packing Plant in South St. Paul for seven years before being hired at IBM in Rochester, MN in 1966 and moved to Plainview, MN.
David was active in St. Joachim Catholic Church boards and committees, the Plainview Jaycees, Lions Club, City Council and Plainview Waste Management Board.
Retiring from IBM in 2000, he started Marshik Home Computer Service. He enjoyed golfing, working on cars and fishing. Valerie lost her battle with cancer and passed in September 2007. David married Janice Houghton on October 16, 2010, and they made their home in Plainview, MN.
He is survived by his wife Janice Marshik, five daughters: Nancy (Terry) Ritt, Barbara Marshik-Geurts (Fred Geurts), Christine (Ron) Snyder, Michelle “Shelly”(Greg) Meyers, Kathleen “Kathy” (Jeff) Miles. Siblings; Lois Peschel, Gary (Mona) Marshik, Ruth (Doug) Johnson, Dori (Bruce) Akins, Eleven grandchildren six great-grandchildren. Five stepchildren: David (Jody) Houghton, Diane (Mark) Fjelstad, Doug (Becky) Houghton, Donna (Ron) Sylvester; Debra Houghton, sixteen step grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Valerie Marshik, Lee David Snyder, Joyce Marshik, Daniel Boser, Ron Peschel and Dennis Sullivan, Margaret Shiek Huberty, Oliver Houghton Engelking.
A funeral Mass is being held at 11:00 am on December 27, 2023, at St. Joachim Catholic Church Plainview, MN, with Father Peter Klein officiating. The burial will follow the service at St. Joachim Cemetery in Plainview, MN. A visitation for friends and family will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am before the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Joachim Cemetery Fund, Plainview Elgin Food Shelf or Alzheimer Association.
