where he grew up in Curran Valley, Wisconsin.  In his youth, he was very active in 4-H and FFA.  He graduated from Taylor High School and attended River Falls College.  He married Shirley Neitzke on June 13, 1959 in Pigeon Falls, WI and they moved to Plainview, MN. Buck was employed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation for 40 years.  Buck was very active in the Plainview Community as a Charter member of the original Plainview Jaycees.  He also served on the City Council for 8-years, leaving that capacity to become an assessor.  He assessed the City of Plainview and 7 townships for a number of years until calling it quits when they became computerized.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Plainview for 52 years and was very instrumental in the building of the Christian Life Center. He was involve  in farming with his son, Jason and in 2003 they started  the business of BJS Trucking Inc. He thoroughly enjoyed being in the seat of the tractor or behind the wheel of his semi-truck, with his favorite passenger being his granddaughter Katie. His love for sports showed through with his 52 years of officiating (football, volleyball, basketball, baseball & softball) by being a member of RAOA and MSHSL.  He took great pride in officiating with his son, Tristan. Buck never let moss grow under his feet. Buck loved the challenges of life that the Lord put in front of him; still working when the Lord called. He is survived by the love of his life, Shirley of 54 years; Two sons Jason (Kim) of Eyota and Tristan (Sara) of Plainview. He is also survived by two brothers Dewey (Kathy) of LaCrescent, MN and David (Jeanne) of Blaine, MN.  His four granddaughters Katie, Kiah, Ezmae, and Bree have put many smiles on his face and filled his heart with pride. Buck enjoyed their lake home in Menomonie, WI, where he found peace and solitude. He was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan, and loved high school sports and watching his granddaughters play. Preceding him in death are his parents, one brother (Dennis),  a nephew, and 2 sister-in-laws. The funeral service will be Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with Rev. Scott Hirssig officiating. Burial is at the Elgin Cemetery. The visitation is Friday 4 to 8 p.m. at the Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview & one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
