Donavon Gustav Timm was born August 29, 1928 in Winona, MN, to Aaron and
Vera (Brueske) Timm. He grew up on the family farm NE of Plainview. Donavon
attended the Grub Country School and graduated from Plainview High School in
1946. In January of 1951, he joined the US Army and served in Korea. He was
On August 6, 1955 he married Darliene Dowers at St. Martens Lutheran Church in
Winona. They lived there entire married life in Plainview. Donavon was employed
for 52 years by the telephone company, retiring in 1999. He was a lifetime member
of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview and had served on various boards.
Donavon had been a member of the Plainview Volunteer Ambulance Service for
over 20 years. He was a longtime member of the Plainview American Legion and
the VFW, and the Plainview Lions Club. He enjoyed playing bingo, cards and
traveling.
He is survived by one son, Arthur (Nona) Hueber of Plainview, and one daughter,
Sherry Wold of Beverly Hills, Florida. Seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren,
4 great-great-grandchildren, one brother, David (Margaret) Timm, of Altura, and
two sisters, Dorla Jean Dittrich of Fort Collins, Colorado and Martha Ann Timm of
Denver, Colorado also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Darliene, and one brother, Paul.
The funeral service will be Thursday, September 26, 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran
Church in Plainview with Rev. Scott Hirssig officiating. Burial with military graveside
rites conducted by the Plainview American Legion will be at the Zion Lutheran
Cemetery, Hoosier Ridge. The visitation is Wednesday 5-8 p.m. at the Schad &
Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on
Thursday.
