PLAINVIEW – Dorothy M. Kruger, age 84, of Plainview, died Wednesday, April 1,
2015 at the St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Wabasha, MN.
Dorothy Mae Blee was born May 21, 1930 in Wabasha to James and Laura
(Evers) Blee. She attended school in Kellogg, MN, Lourdes High School in
Rochester for two years, before graduating from Plainview High School in 1948.
She worked at the State Hospital in Rochester for two years as a Telephone
Operator. On Sept. 2, 1950 she married George J. Kruger at St. Joachims Catholic
Church in Plainview. She worked with her husband as a Bookkeeper at Kruger
Implement Company in Plainview for many years, and also at Marie’s Flower Shop
for fifteen years. A member of St. Joachim Catholic Church, she taught Religion
classes for twenty years, and was also a member of the Ladies Group. Dorothy
was a loving wife and mother. Her family members were recipient of her generous
nature. She was boundless in sharing her time, kind words, and actions. She was
involved in all family projects, from canning to wallpapering. Her homemade jellies
and preserves were gifts to be shared at every Christmas. Dorothy enjoyed many
hobbies including vegetable and floral gardening, quilting, fishing, playing cards,
and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband George, of Plainview; daughters Sally (Vince)
Fangman of Pine Island, MN; Barbara (David) Walkes, Mary Lou (Bill) Schad, and
Deb (Jim) Kreofsky, all of Plainview; sons Gerard, and Pat (Robyn Ruhberg), both
of Plainview; seventeen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; her brother
Jerry Blee, of Lake City, MN; and her daughter-in-law Marie Kruger Stafford of
Wilmington, NC. Her daughter Linda, brothers Robert, James, and Donald, and
her sister Eleanor, preceded her in death.
The Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joachim Catholic Church with
Rev. William Becker officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the
church. Burial will be in St. Joachim Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to
8:00 p.m. Monday at Schad and Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview. Memorials are
suggested to the Mayo Hospice in Wabasha, or the St. Ann’s Unit at St. Elisabeth
