Edna Lorraine Fabian, 93, died Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Good Samaritan
Center in
St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Edna was born August 4, 1922 in Winona County to John and Minnie (Ueckert)
Erdman. She attended country school in Hart, MN. On September 27, 1941 she
married Melvin Fabian in Lewiston. They farmed south of Dover until 1956 and
then moved to Eyota. Melvin died January 18, 1997. Edna lived in Eyota until
moving to Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar in January of 2015.
Edna was employed for 23 years at the Matteson Nursing Home in Eyota as a
Nurses Aide and then went to work at A.B.C. Ability Center in Rochester, retiring in
1991. She was a longtime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Eyota. She
enjoyed gardening, embroidery, canning vegetables, hand quilting, playing cards
and spending time with her family.
Edna is survived by two sons, Ken (Sara) Fabian of Canton and Loren Fabian of
Winter Haven, FL.; two daughters, Elaine Pierce of St. Charles and Brenda
(Darrin) Flury of St. Ansgar, Iowa; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, 1
daughter Karen, 1 granddaughter Maelyn, 1 great granddaughter Paige and
daughter-in-law Victoria.
Funeral service is Wednesday, May 4, 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church
in Eyota with Rev. Jonathan Vollrath officiating. Burial is at the Hillside Cemetery in
St. Charles. Visitation is Tuesday 5-7 p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in
Eyota and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Good Samaritan Society, P.O. Box
340, 701 E. 4th St, St. Ansgar, Iowa 50472 or St. Croix Hospice, 951 N. Linn Ave,
New Hampton, Iowa 50659.
