Edward J. Mueller, 81, of St. Charles, died Monday, June 6, 2016, at Chosen
Valley Care Center in Chatfield.
Edward was born May 1, 1935 in Elba Township, Winona County, to Alois and
Mathilda (Putzier) Mueller. He attended Kramer Country School. He was drafted
into the U.S. Army in 1958, serving until 1959. Upon discharge, he worked for
Schultz Implement and Murphy Sales. On May 5, 1962 he married Joann Mundt
at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba. They made their home in St. Charles.
Edward was a self employed carpenter for 10 years and then worked for
Patterson Quarries and Mathy Construction for 18 years, retiring in 1994. He
was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening,
playing cards, woodworking, traveling to Arizona and early morning coffee.
Edward is survived by his wife Joann of St. Charles; children, Todd (Laurie)
Mueller of St. Charles, Brian (Frances) Mueller of St. Charles, Jeffrey (Renae)
Mueller of Rochester, Shelly (Ron) Klinski of Caledonia; 10 grandchildren; 7
great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray (Mary) Mueller of St. Charles; 5 sisters,
Mary Janet Wegman of St. Charles, Rita (George) Hagg of Altura, Cecile
(Walter) Schmit of Dover, Rose Struckmann of Rochester and Margaret Mundt
of St. Charles; brother-in-law, Gerald Knoll of Elgin and sister-in-law, Alice Jean
Mueller of St. Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Alvin, Joseph and Everett,
and 2 sisters, Irene Decker and Emily Knoll.
Funeral Mass will be Friday, June 10, 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church
in Elba with Father Kurt Farrell officiating. Burial is at the St. Aloysius Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday, 9:30 a.m. till the time of the service at the church. In lieu of
flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Aloysius Cemetery Fund or the St.
Charles Academic Excellence Scholarship Fund.
