Elaine Julia Folkert

Elaine Julia Folkert, 89, of Plainview died Monday October 4, 2021 at St Mary’s Hospital, just 10 days shy of her 90th birthday.

She was born in Plainview on October 14, 1931 to Rudolph and Julia (Kiese) Timm.  Elaine was born and raised on the family farm east of Plainview.  She attended country school and Plainview High School graduating in 1949.

On May 18, 1956 Elaine married Franklin Folkert at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plainview.  They were proud to have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.  Elaine was a homemaker and worked various jobs locally, but was best known as the “cake lady”, decorating cakes to help celebrate many weddings, birthdays, and countless graduations.

Her faith and love for Christ led her to serve her church through the Altar Guild, choir, ILCW and quilting group.

Elaine cherished her time with family and is survived by her husband Franklin and their children, David (Julie) Folkert of Rochester, Douglas (Patty Young) Folkert of Phoenix, AZ, Donna (Lee) Peterson of Plainview, grandchildren Ethan (Alysha) Folkert of Rochester, Adam Peterson of Minneapolis, great grandson Gunner Folkert of Rochester, brother Donald (Mary) Timm of Plainview, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Elmer Timm.

Funeral service will be on Monday October 11, 2021 at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plainview with Pastor Phil Augustine officiating.  Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.

Visitation will be Sunday October 10, 2021 from 3-5 pm at Schad and Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and 1 hour prior to the service.

Memorials suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.
