PLAINVIEW – Esther M. Lyons, age 88, of Plainview, died Tuesday, Mar. 31, 2015 at the Walker Methodist Health Center in Minneapolis, MN. Esther Mary Martin was born June 10, 1926 in Elgin, MN to William and Julia (Darcy) Martin. She spent her early years on the family farm, and graduated from Plainview High School in 1943. On Sept. 4, 1948 she married John Lyons at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Plainview. Esther was a salesperson for Avon in Plainview for forty years. Her husband John died Aug. 13, 2000. She moved to Crystal, MN to live with her daughter Julie in 2004. She was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church where she was active in ladies groups. Other memberships include the Women’s Auxiliary of the William Allen Post #179 of the American Legion of Plainview. She was also active in the Plainview Volunteer Fire Department. Esther enjoyed camping, traveling, Bingo, Jig Saw puzzles, and playing cards. Survivors include her son, George of Stonington, Maine; daughters, Rita (Steven) Bach, Marie Lyons, and Donna Lyons, all of Minneapolis; and Julie (Jason) Mausolf of Crystal, MN; five grandchildren, Melissa (Jeremy) Hickert, Michelle, William, and Sarah Bach, and Lily Lyons. Her husband, a son, a sister, and two brothers preceded her in death. The Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Joachim Catholic Church with Rev. Donald J. Schmitz officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Joachim Cemetery.
