Evabell Josephine Davidshofer was born November 29, 1911 at Marmarth, North
Dakota to George and Josephine (Kukowski) Davidshofer where her parents
homesteaded in Dakota Territory. The family moved to a farm in the Whitewater
Valley, near Beaver, when she was two years old.
Evabell attended schools in Beaver, Cathedral High School and Winona Teacher
College. She taught school in rural Winona County. She married Gregory Kramer
June 17, 1933 in Minneiska. Together they farmed near St. Charles until their
retirement. Gregory died June 21, 1980. Evabell was an active member of St.
Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba. She taught religion classes and was a member
of the St. Ann’s Society, Ladies Aid and the Catholic Daughters. She was also a 4-
H leader. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, baking, reading and
spending time with her family.
Survivors include four daughters; Regina (Joseph) Leisen of Plainview, Mildred
(Stanley) Dee of Rochester, Lucille (Thomas) Helfter of LeSueur and Joan
Pollema of St. Charles, Two sons; Edward (JoAn) Kramer and Leo (Donna)
Kramer of St. Charles, 36 grandchildren and 77 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Leonard, son-in-law David
Pollema, grandson Michael Kramer, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Mass is Saturday, November 1, 2014, 11 a.m., at St. Aloysius Catholic
Church in Elba with Father Kurt Farrell officiating. Burial is at the St. Aloysius
Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is Saturday, 9:30 till time of the service at the church.
