Fred Meure

Fredrick James Meurer, 76, died Thursday, October 24 at The Bluffs of Lake City in Lake City, MN of complications of Parkinsons. Fred was born November 12, 1942 in Wabasha to Otto and Bernice (Hetrick) Meurer. He attended High School in Wabasha. In 1963 he married Gloria LaBresh. They later divorced. In 1983 he married Linda (Reiter) Harwood. Fred was a longtime tile setter and the owner of Laitala Tile Co. in Rochester. He and Linda were members of First Congregational Church in Lake City. Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling, traveling, stock car racing and was known as the Dog Whisperer. He is survived by his wife Linda of Rochester; children, Chevelle (Mark) Kolling of Rochester, Carma (Scott) Willers of Lake City, Corey (Lauren) Meurer, Kris (John) Keefe and Jeff (JoAnne) Harwood all of Rochester; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; siblings, Rich (Skip) Meurer of Wabasha, Sue (Rich) Reed of Lake City and Helen Willers of Lake City; sister-in-laws, Gloria Meurer, LaVonne Meurer and Barb Meurer all of Wabasha. Fred was preceeded in death by his parents, 1 step son Rob Harwood, 3 brothers, Robert Meurer, Roger Meurer and William Meurer and 1 brother-in-law, Keith Willers. Memorial service will be Wednesday, October 30, 12 Noon at First Congregational Church in Lake City with Pastor David Badgley officiating. Visitation is Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred too: St. Jude Children’s Hospital, First Congregational Church or The Wounded Warriors.
