Gary Feldman

God called Gary Carl Feldman home on Wednesday, June 15th, 2016 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN at the age of 69. Gary was born on April 21st, 1947 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Wabasha, MN to Herbert and Lila (Griepentrog) Feldman. On May 25th, 1947 he was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato, MN. His family moved to Plainview, MN in 1952 where he attended elementary school and was active in Cub Scouts. As a youth his summers were spent at the Feldman farm in White, SD. His confirmation took place on March 26th, 1961 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview. Gary graduated from Plainview High School with the class of 1965 where he was involved in band, class play, student council, track, football, basketball and baseball. He attended Mankato State College from 1965-1969, graduating with a BA in Economics and Political Science. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 -1971 and was honorably discharged with a Vietnam Service Medal and Bronze Star Medal. He returned to Mankato State and obtained a BS in Computer Science and Business Administration. He enjoyed summer softball, hunting and fishing. He always looked forward to spending time with the guys going to horse races and playing golf. He was also an extremely avid Minnesota Gophers fan. Gary spent many years working as a computer programmer at Prudential, IBM and Target. After he retired in 2010, Gary found his real passion in life walking dogs, pet sitting and spending time with all of his furry friends. Gary is survived by his mother Lila Feldman of Plainview, MN, brother Alan (Donna) Feldman of Frankenmuth, MI, sister Ann Hofstad of St. James, MN, brother Dean (Vicki) Feldman of Platteville, WI, nephews Dan Feldman, Rian (Dawn) Hofstad, Matt (Erin) Feldman, Michael Feldman, Seth Feldman, and great nephews Cole and Henry Hofstad, great niece Emma Couto, cousins and special friend Cathy Menard. Gary was preceded in death by his father Herb in 1960, his brother Dale in 1957 and niece Sarah in 1986 as well as grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. A graveside memorial service will be on July 23rd, 2016 at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview, MN at 11:00 am. Gathering with food and fellowship will follow at the Plainview American Legion. The family would like to thank all of the 2-legged and 4-legged friends that have loved and supported Gary throughout the years. Now his real life begins.
