George Daniel Standinger

George “Daniel” Standinger AKA Dinger. His journey of life ended at the age of 77 on December 14th, 2024 at Green Prairie in Plainview, MN, peacefully with family by his side.

Dan was born March 6th 1947 to George and Martha (Pechacek) Standinger in Waseca, MN. He was raised in the community of Plainview, graduated from Plainview High School in 1965.

Dan served as an aviation technician in the United States Navy from 1967-1971 including Vietnam. He worked at Miller Harrington Agency from 1971 to 1986, then transitioned to Greenwood Agency in Plainview until his retirement.

Dan married Cheryl Kuhlman on August 27th, 1966. They were blessed with two sons, George ‘Mike” and Jamie “Jay”.

Dan was very active in the Plainview community, lifetime member of The American Legion Post 179 in Plainview. He was a member of the Lions Club and St. Joachim’s Catholic Church. Dan volunteered as a football coach, taught snowmobile training and gun training.

Throughout his life, Dan enjoyed boating with Cheryl and their family, hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Dan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cheryl. Sons Mike (Marcy) of Plainview, MN. Jay (Kendra) of Dodge Center, MN. Grandchildren Tia (Jacob), Baighley (Roman), Kennedy, McKenzie (Zach), and Jamie. Great Grandchildren: Evelynn, Isaac, Charlie, Sisters: Sally, Sue, Mary (Russ) and Brother Mark (Lori). Sister in-laws Donna (Charlie), Marilyn (John), and Sharon.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Martha Standinger; in-laws Orville and Muriel Kuhlman, brother in-laws LaVern Kuhlman and Dean Harrington.

Dan’s family would like to thank Green Prairie and Mayo Clinic Hospice nursing staff for their excellent care in his final years.

Funeral mass will be Saturday, December 21, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Plainview with Father Tojy Jose officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joachim Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, 4-7 p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
