George Stoning, 72, died Friday, November 9th at his home in Plainview. George Burton Stoning was born October 24, 1946 to Ray and Margaret Lorraine (White) Stoning on the family farm in Winona County, Whitewater Township. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1965. He then worked at Waters Conley in Rochester. On November 25, 1967 he married Susan Williamson at the Methodist Church in Hammond, MN. In 1968 he started employment at Plainview Milk Products and worked their many years. The last 10 years he had worked at Menards in Rochester. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren. George was a member of the North Star Trail & Tree Coon Club. He is survived by his wife Susan of Plainview; 3 sons, George (Angela) Stoning of Plainview, Patrick (Shawna) Stoning of Plainview and Jason (Leslie) Stoning of Rochester; 1 daughter, BethAnn (Ryan) Phillips of Plainview; 5 grandchildren, Samantha, Noah, Hope, Alaina and Evan; 1 sister, Nancy Cole of Rochester and 1 brother, Raymond Stoning of Plainview. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service is Tuesday, November 13, 11:00 a.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview with Pastor Cheryl Nyman officiating. Burial is at the Woodland Cemetery, rural Plainview. Visitation is Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. till the time of the service at the funeral home.
