Geraldine B. (Hansen) Ihrke, 91, of Eyota, formerly of St. Charles, died on March
25, 2016, at Arbor Gardens in Eyota.
Gerry was born on February 23, 1925, on the family farm near Eyota to Arthur
and Clara (Biersdorf) Pries. She grew up in the Eyota area and graduated from
Eyota High School in 1944. On November 20, 1944, she married Donald Hansen in
Winona, MN. Together they farmed in the Eyota area until 1971 when they
purchased the grocery store in Elba, MN. After Don’s death in 1988, she moved to
St. Charles. On October 29, 1998, she married Donald Ihrke at St. Paul’s United
Church of Christ north of Eyota and they resided in St. Charles until moving to Arbor
Gardens this past February.
Gerry enjoyed family gatherings, visiting with friends, quilting, birthday cake
decorating, embroidering, family fishing trips, and playing cards. She was a member
of the Elba Homemakers and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and Women’s Guild.
Gerry is survived by her husband, Donald, of Eyota; a daughter, LaDonna Corbin,
of Plainview: sons, James Hansen of Dover, David (Nancy) Hansen of Elba, and
Larry Hansen (Kris Opsahl) of Plainview, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-
grandchildren. She is also survived by a step-daughter, Barb (Roger) Pike of Eyota,
and step-sons, David (Jane) Ihrke of Owatonna, Brent (Kay) Ihrke, and Brian
(Sandy) Ihrke, both of Eyota, and 8 step-grandchildren and 14 step great-
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Hansen; sister and
brother-in-law, Mildred and Paul Campbell; brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and
Marian Pries; and son-in-law, Steve Corbin.
Funeral service is Wednesday, March 30, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s United
Church of Christ north of Eyota, with Rev. Jean Boese officiating. Burial is at the
church cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and one
hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
