Gloria Caroline (Schroeder) Daniels, age 93, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield. Gloria was born February 15, 1926, in Elgin, MN, to Carl and Elizabeth (Lehmann) Schroeder.  She graduated from Elgin High School and Minneapolis Business College.  After her graduations, she worked as a secretary at the Mayo Clinic. After Gloria’s marriage to Donovan Roy Daniels in 1944, they farmed in southeast Rochester and moved to a farm near Eyota in 1951.  She was a homemaker and then worked at Waters Conley Co., Marquette Bank and Trust Company and retired in 1988 from Rochester Technical College.  Donovan passed away in 2000. When Gloria wasn’t spending time with her children, grandchildren or greatgrandchildren she enjoyed travelling, which included trips within the United States, numerous cruises, 2 trips to the Holy Land and to all 7 Continents.  She also loved playing bridge and 500; collecting and trying new recipes. Gloria was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Eyota where she had taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years, delivered Meals on Wheels and prepared and served meals to the I.H.N. guests while they resided at the church.  She was also a member of Oak Valley Homemaker Club, Rural Robins Homemaker Club and the Golden Girls card club. Survivors include one daughter, Sheriann (Victor) Vail of Lewiston and one son, Dr. Gary (Judi) Daniels of Chatfield; 7 grandchildren, Tammy, Vickiann, Daniel, Beth, Derek, Jason and Amy; 22 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Adeline Shiek of Plainview, Elizabeth “Betty” (John) Ferrier of Eyota and Nadine Gillespie of Parker, CO; one brother, Albert (Mary) Schroeder of Rochester; one sister-in-law, Shirley Schroeder of Elgin and many nieces and nephews.  Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a step- grandson, Wayne Vail; a grand-son-in-law, Brian Bicaise; three brothers, Marvin, Darwin and Frederick Schroeder; one sister-in-law, Audrey Schroeder; and one brother-in-law, Fred Shiek. The family would like to thank the Chosen Valley Care Center and Seasons Hospice for their compassionate care of Gloria.  Thank you also to her family at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for their continued thoughts, visits and prayers. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Eyota, The Founders Committee at the Chosen Valley Care Center or Seasons Hospice. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 30 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Eyota, with the Rev. Jon Vollrath officiating.  Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.  Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Eyota and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.  schadandzabelfuneralhomes.com
