James Simon

James "Jim" Ambrose Simon, 80, of Plainview, MN died on Thursday March 19, 2026, at his residence with his family by his side. Jim was born on April 27, 1945, in Winona, MN to Ambrose and Irene (Serva) Simon. Jim grew up on the family farm near Elba, where he worked on the farm at an early age, he later graduated from Plainview High School in 1963. He then started working for Schultz Implement in Plainview and continued their eventually retiring from MN Ag Group. James was united in marriage to Helga Kuehl on June 16, 1967, in Plainview, where the couple continued to live. Jim could fix anything and was very handy, he also enjoyed fixing tractors. He was a member of the Greenwood Prairie Classic Iron Club.

James is survived by his wife Helga, son Jeff Simon, daughter Jenny Simon, and his granddaughter Miranda (Ben) Pearson, he is also survived by his siblings Sharon (Lance) Heaser, Mary Simon, Steve (Sandy) Simon, Julie (Mitch) Klempf, Peter (Theresa) Simon, Mike (Brenda) Simon, Duane Simon, and Ken (Susan) Simon, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Russell, and sister Joan Simon.

A memorial prayer service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday March 27, 2026, at St Joachim Catholic Church (900 W. Broadway, Plainview), visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the St Joachim Cemetery. Schad and Zabel Funeral Home of Plainview are handling arrangements for the family.
