The funeral for JoAnn H. Walters is Monday, December 7, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Elgin with Rev. Terrill Bramstedt officiating. Burial is at the Elgin
Cemetery.
JoAnn Hulda Walters, 83, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 in Rochester. JoAnn
was born October 7, 1932 in Wabasha County to Harry and Lydia (Schultz)
Johnson. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1950. On September 28,
1954 she married Theron Walters at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview. They
farmed in Quincy Township and then moved to Elgin in 1962. JoAnn did in home
day care, worked 10 years at Gusa Electric and also had worked at the Elgin
American Legion, the Elgin Elevator and the Elgin Creamery. She was a member of
Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed dancing, both competitively and teaching,
playing cards, gardening and reading.
She is survived by her children; Jerry (Jean) Walters of Elgin, Kyle (Pam) Walters of
Rochester, Susan (David) Towers of Rochester, Emma Jean (Daniel)) Fink of
Rochester, Lydia (Arnold Jr.) Blauert of Sidney, Nebraska and Donna Walters of
Rochester; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother; Willard (Marilyn)
Johnson of Minneapolis and 1 sister; Carol (Donald) Montgomery of Lewiston.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 brothers, Kenneth and Virgil.
The visitation is Sunday, 5-7 p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and
1 hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
