John Francis Holzer

John Francis Holzer, 72, of Plainview, passed away Saturday evening
January 23, 2021 at Rochester East Health Services in Rochester.
John was born August 15, 1948 in Wabasha County, to Kenneth and
Minnie (Kreidermacher) Holzer. He graduated from Plainview High School
in 1966.
In 1970 he married Anne Rausch (Holst) and divorced in 1980. He
married Diane (Polzin) Doherty in 1990 and she survives. John farmed
with his parents north of Plainview until they passed. He continued to
farm with the help of his sister Mary and his wife Diane. He was a lifetime
member of St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview and was also a
member of the Old Settlers Club. John loved cribbage, Yas, 500 and
bowling. He was a very good dancer and light on his feet.
He is survived by his wife Diane Holzer of Plainview; Sons, Gregory and
Denton Holzer of Rochester and two step-sons, Scott Doherty of
Rochester and Kevin Doherty of Wells, MN; four grandchildren; Rachel
H, Kailee H, Ava H, Kayden H; four step-grandchildren; Cohen and
Aedan Doherty, Autumn D, and Arianna F, along with many other
relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Mary Holzer and a
daughter; Shari Holzer.
Due to Covid-19, a private funeral mass will be held February 4, 2021,
11:00 a.m. at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview with Father
William Becker officiating.
