Joshua M. Hall

d. June 8, 2019

Joshua M. Hall , 38, of Kellogg passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2019, at Saint Marys Hospital with family by his side.  He was born October 7, 1980, in Wabasha to Mark and Joan (Arends) Hall.  Josh attended Wabasha-Kellogg schools and graduated from Wabasha-Kellogg High School in 1999. During high school and right after Josh worked for REM until his accident.  He worked for 10 years at Mayo Clinic and moved on to fulfill his passion for photography at the Plainview News.  And most recently, he has worked most enjoyably at the Plainview- Elgin-Millville High School as a paraprofessional in the special education department.  He relished working with the students and helping them to succeed. After high school Josh briefly attended Red Wing Technical College until his life was interrupted by his unfortunate auto accident that left him wheelchair bound.  Despite that major life hurdle, Josh overcame so many obstacles and became a very independent young man. Those who knew Josh, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. Josh was loved by all who knew him.  He was such a likable guy and was known for his endless smirking and quiet laugh.  He loved watching movies and listening to music.  He also spent time watching the birds and taking pictures.  He enjoyed playing games with family, going to Drag shows, taking trips, and fishing from the pontoon.  He spent time working outside in his gardens and baking up new recipes in the kitchen. Josh is survived by his parents, Mark and Joan, three brothers Seth Hall of Kellogg, Caleb (Danielle) Hall of Ostrander, Gabriel (Brittany) Hall of Elgin and one sister, Sarah (Charlie) Meyer of Theilman; also survived by 5 nephews, Jordan, Andrew, Nicholas, Ryley and Trevor: 4 nieces, Carlie, Amanda, Jasmin and Keira and numerous aunts , uncles and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marvin and Rosella Arends of Kellogg and his paternal grandparents John and Maxine Hall of Plainview, one nephew and his beloved dog and companion Abby. The family wishes to express the most sincere heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Mayo Clinic, Saint Marys Hospital Mary Brigh 7E that took such compassionate care of Josh and his family during this difficult time. Funeral service is Saturday, June 15, 2:00 p.m. at Peace United Methodist Church between Plainview and Elgin with Pastor Cheryl Nymann officiating. Visitation is Friday 4:00- 8:00 p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
