Joyce was born October 11, 1934 in Fountain City, Wisconsin, to George and
Frances (Mrozek) Patzner. She graduated from Chatfield High School in 1952
and then attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing and worked at St. Mary’s
Hospital in Rochester as a LPN.
On June 30, 1955 she married James Clemens in St. Charles. They have
farmed in Dover Township.
Joyce was a very active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, taught CCD for many years, and
was a Eucharist Minster, in charge of funeral lunches, CCW president, was
involved in St. Anne’s Altar Society and the Interfaith Hospitality Network. She
also served Meals on Wheels. Joyce enjoyed puzzle books, dancing, playing
cards, baking, gardening, canning, and having coffee with her friends and
classmates.
She is survived by her husband, James of Eyota; children, Jerome (Antoinette)
Clemens of Eyota, Teresa (Russ) VanDuine of Rochester, Rose (Scott) Elliott of
Inver Grove Heights, Richard (Carolyn) Clemens of Dover and Tom Clemens of
Rochester; grandchildren, William Clemens, Sandy (Josh) Bothun, Michael &
Sarah VanDuine, Ben, Nick (Kelsey) and Josh Elliott, Crystal (Joe) and Matthew
(Allison) Clemens; great grandchildren, Caleb and Caden Bothun; sisters,
Marilyn (Jerome) Shea of Viola, Geraldine Holzer of St. Charles, Jean Chelenza
of Norman, Oklahoma and1 brother, Gerald (Marilyn) Patzner of St. Charles.
Preceded in death by her parents, 2 grandchildren, Jeremey and Jessica
Clemens, sister, Rita Ristau and brother-in-laws, Art Ristau, Curt Holzer and
Duane Chelenza..
Funeral Mass is Saturday, June 27, 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church
in Eyota with Father Kurt Farrell officiating. Burial is at Holy Redeemer Catholic
Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, 4-8 pm at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and 1
hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 9:
30 am Saturday at the church.
