Julie Ann Stoning

Julie Ann Stoning, 74, died Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Family Roots Elder Care in Plainview.

Julie was born December 19, 1950, in Bird Island, MN, to Robert and Elaine (Meyer) Schmoll. The family moved to Elgin, MN when Julie was a child. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1969.

On July 10, 1970, she married Gary Stoning, in Elgin. They lived in Germany, as Gary served in the Army. Upon Gary’s discharge, they moved to a farm SE of Plainview.

Julie was employed for many years at Mack Publishing Co. in Plainview and then worked at H&R Block. She belonged to the quilting club and was involved in 4H with her children.  Julie enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables.

She is survived by her husband Gary, 2 sons, Brian of Westmoreland, NH and Aaron (Crystal) of Grand Meadow, MN, grandchildren, Ben, Evelyn and Felicity. 1 sister, Jann (Byron) Adrian of Burnsville, MN.

Julie was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy, Parents and 1 brother Jim.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, May 3rd, 1-4 p.m. at the Plainview American Legion. A short service will be at 1 p.m. with lunch to follow.
