Katherine Louise Weis

Katherine Louise Weis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 86. A longtime resident of Plainview, Minnesota, Katherine was born on August 11, 1938, in Chatfield, Minnesota.

Katherine graduated from Chatfield High School in 1956 and then later from Stout University. She worked as a Home Extension agent for Wabasha County and then taught kindergarten at Wabasha and Plainview.

She was married to the love of her life, Herbert F. Weis Jr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love, faith, farming and family.

Katherine is survived by her son, Kurt Weis of Plainview, MN; and her daughter, Karen Harris (Adolphus Harris, Jr.) of Round Lake, IL. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Cody and Colin Weis, and to Aimee Harris. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren, Kiya and Emmit, who brought her great joy.

Ahe is also survived by her brother, Glenn Hisey of Chatfield, MN, and his wife, Marlene, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert F. Weis Jr., her parents, Lewis and Ruth (Schrader) Hisey, and her nephew, Kevin Hisey.

A woman of deep faith, Katherine was a devoted member of the Church of Christ in Plainview, MN, where she found strength, community, and purpose. Her quiet grace, kind heart, and lifelong dedication to her family and faith touched the lives of all who knew her.

A celebration of Katherine’s life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Plainview with Pastor Bob Blanshan officiating. The burial will follow at the Elgin Cemetery, Elgin, MN. The Visitation is Friday, 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to charity or cause, if desired.
