“I’m home!” … Larry B. Daniels, 83 of Eyota, MN passed away from
lymphoma on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Methodist Hospital in
Rochester surrounded by his wife and children.
Larry was born on October 18, 1937 in Rochester, MN to Roy and Iva
Daniels. The family moved to Eyota in 1954 where he met and married the
love of his life, LuAn Ihrke, at Faith United Methodist church, where he was
a lifelong member. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding
anniversary this Thursday, November 5th. Larry had a strong work ethic
that started at a young age. He held several jobs over the years to support
a growing family, finally retiring from Dahlen Transport after 27 years.
However, his second career and true passion throughout life was always
farming. Larry loved the land and claimed he could “hear the corn grow”
after a warm summer rain. For many years, Allis-Chalmers orange was the
only color of equipment you would see on his farm, and only Ford vehicles
were ever seen in his driveway. He was a jack of all trades, loved to tinker,
and could repurpose just about anything.
Larry was a humble man with a big heart and was always looking out for
his family. He is survived by his wife LuAn and children: Lynn (Terry)
Arends, Lee (Jan) Daniels, Lisha Hindt, Dr. Layne Daniels, and Liane
(Rod) Hammel. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tim, Seth,
Garrett, Aaron, Cierra, Karly, Jerrin, Kellin, Lukas, Riley, and Kaylee. He
also had 10 great-grandchildren whom he lovingly referred to as his
precious moments.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and all 7 siblings. He was the
last survivor.
Due to the current pandemic, no public service will be held at this time. A
private celebration of Larry’s life will be held at a later date.
Although he fought hard and lost this battle, it is heaven that has won… he
is now truly “home”.
