Larry Luckstein, 66, passed away on Sat., December 16, 2017 at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview. Larry was born on October 1, 1951 in Echo, MN to G. Erick and Elfie (Mortensbak) Luckstein. He attended school in Echo and graduated from Echo High School in 1969. After high school he worked on the family farm and at the Echo Grain Elevator. In 1974 he enrolled at the St. Cloud Area Vocation/Technical College and completed a degree in Office Machines Repair in 1975. Upon completion he moved to Buffalo, MN, and was employed at Persian Office Supplies as a repairman. On March 10, 1999, he suffered a brain aneurysm which left him totally disabled, and then resided at the nursing home in Plainview for the last 18 and a half years until the time of his death. In his younger years, Larry enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycle, watching sports on TV, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. Larry is survived by his brother, Don (Becky) Luckstein of Plainview, MN; sister, Linda (Fritz)  Peters of Ketchikan, AK; half-brothers, Richard (Carol) Shimek of Neenah, WI, and Charles (Sharon) Shimek of Otsego, MN; nephews, David Luckstein of Duluth, MN, Aaron (Kelley)  Luckstein of Plainview, MN, Paul (Connie ) Shimek of Londonderry, NH, Mark Shimek of Neenah, WI, John (Jes) Shimek of Minneapolis, MN; niece, Genevieve Parriott of Albuquerque, NM, and great-nieces and nephew, Lauren, Josie, and Layton Luckstein, all of Plainview. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, James Luckstein. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with the Rev. Phil Augustine officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church until the time of the service. A family burial service will be conducted in Echo, MN on Friday, December 22 with the Rev. Daniel Faugstad of Redwood Falls, MN officiating. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church, or to “Friends of Seniors” Foundation at the nursing home in Plainview.
