Lila Mavis (Griepentrog) Feldman died on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Cottagewood in Rochester, MN, at the age of 95. Mom was born March 11, 1921, in White, South Dakota, to August and Minnie (Pettner) Griepentrog.  She was the youngest of 6 children.  On April 17, 1921, she was baptized at her parents' home in White, SD.  In high school Mom participated in band, chorus, sang solos, and accompanied both vocal and instrumental soloists on the piano.  In 1939 she graduated from White High School as co-valedictorian; it was during high school that she met and started dating Dad.  After high school Mom attended South Dakota State College in Brookings, SD, for 2 years.  She was employed as secretary to the horticulture department there for a year under Dr. Leon Snyder while Dad was teaching in Bridgewater, South Dakota.  On October 3, 1942, Mom married Herbert E. Feldman at her parents' home in White when he was on military leave.  The Rev. R. A. Kettenacker officiated.  They moved to Gray, GA, as Dad was stationed at Camp Wheeler.  In January of 1943 they moved to Washington, D.C., while Dad was working at the Pentagon; after a few months they moved to Macon, GA.  Dad was sent overseas to the CBI Theater of WWII in the fall of 1943 so Mom lived with her parents in Mankato, MN, until Dad returned home in 1946.  They lived in Wabasha, MN, from 1947-52 while Dad was County Agent.  In 1952 they moved to Plainview, MN, where Dad managed the Plainview Produce Co.  After Dad died Mom was employed at Peoples State Bank as a secretary for the bank and insurance agency.  She retired in 1986 after 25 years.  Mom was active in choir, Chicago Folk, ILCW, and Dorcas Club at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  She was a Cub Scout den mother.  She was always there for us at our school events.  Mom belonged to the Legion and Hillcrest Auxiliaries and volunteered at the Hillcrest Nursing Home.  She loved to golf, play bridge, sew, do arts and crafts, and play piano for her own enjoyment.  Mom would go shopping or have coffee and chat with friends at the drop of a hat.  Mom is survived by her children Alan (Donna) Feldman of Frankenmuth, MI, Ann Hofstad of St. James, MN, and Dean (Vicki) Feldman of Platteville, WI;  grandchildren Daniel Feldman, Rian (Dawn) Hofstad, Matt (Erin) Feldman, Michael Feldman, and Seth Feldman; step-grandchildren Denise (Ani) Ferraro, Lori (Dave) Gilbert, and Jim (Jennifer) Campau;  great-grandchildren Cole and Henry Hofstad and Emma Couto;  step-great grandchildren Chelsea Barnes, Heather Pollick, Jessica and Jacob Gilbert; step-great-great grandchild Andy Rudy, and nieces and nephews. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herb in 1960, son Dale in 1957, son Gary in 2016, granddaughter Sarah in 1986, siblings Luella, Laurena, Leonard, Lillian, and Lester as well as nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mom will be at a later date at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview, MN, with Pastor Phil Augustine officiating.  Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview with lunch to follow at the church.  Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Durgin, Larry Fix, Jim Howard, Lyle Liskow, Dick Zabel, and Ken Zarling. Any memorials may be sent to the donor's choice.  Our family is thankful to all who befriended Mom throughout her life.  We know Dad has a tee-off time and bridge table reserved for Mom when she gets Home.
