Logan C. Behrens, 90, of Eyota, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, St. Mary’s Campus. Logan was born October 28, 1926 in Dover Township to Charles and Marie (Ihrke) Behrens. He was raised on the family farm and attended country school. In March of 1945 he enlisted in the Army serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during WW II. He was Honorably Discharged in November of 1946. On September 22, 1948, he married Lois Burgdorf in St. Charles. They farmed in Dover Township until moving into Eyota in 1968. Logan then worked various jobs in the area. He was a 70 year member of the Eyota American Legion and was a proud participant in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He was an avid Vikings and Twins fan, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, playing bingo, bowling and throwing horseshoes. His family meant everything to him and he’ll be greatly missed. Logan is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois; children; Charles (Heidi) Behrens of St. Charles, David (Sharron) Behrens of Altura, JoAnn (Dennis) Grethen of Eyota, Dawn Rosario of Brookline, MA, Cheryl (Michael) Furr of Elgin and Jeff (Jayne) Behrens of St. Charles; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 1 brother. A private service will be held on Sunday at the Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota. The graveside service with military rites conducted by the Eyota American Legion will be at 2:30 pm, Sunday, at Evergreen Cemetery north of Dover. The public is invited to the graveside service.
