LuVerne Arnold Eddy, 101, died Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, Minnesota.  He was born July 15, 1913 in rural Canton, MN to Elmer and Agnes ( Knudson) Eddy. He graduated from Chatfield High School in 1933. Kathleen and LuVerne Eddy were married October 16, 1937 at the Little Brown Church in a double wedding ceremony with his sister-in-law Norma and Ray Freel in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Chatfield, Saratoga, and Eyota where LuVerne was a Creamery Manager from 1933 - 1977.  LuVerne and Kathleen lived in Eyota 46 years and then moved to Rochester in 1996. LuVerne worked in the Chatfield Cooperative Creamery from 1933-1942 and was Creamery Manager at the Saratoga Cooperative Creamery from 1942-1950 and then moved to Eyota where he wasCreamery Manager at the Eyota Cooperative Creamery from 1950-1977 and retired from there.  He made butter for Sara Lee Bakery and won prize winning trophies at the Minnesota State Fair for his butter making.  After retiring from the creamery, he worked with the postal service and drove a U.S. mail truck from Rochester to Austin daily from 1977-1984.  He was a member of the Evergreen Masonic Lodge at Clyde in Utica, MN, a member of the Order of Eastern Star Lodge in Eyota andSt. Charles, a member of the Dairyman’s Association and a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota. He enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Europe and across United States and Canada.  He liked fishing, camping, bowling, music, reading and cars.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  LuVerne lived life with a twinkle in his eye and was always a perfect gentleman.  We will miss his loving spirit and beautiful smile. He is survived by son, Newell (Elaine) Eddy of Rochester and daughter, Cheryl (Daniel) Hamm of Rochester; grandchildren, Danna (Brock) Lebeck of Rochester; Curtis Eddy of Rochester; Renee (Gregory) Raskin of Prescott, Arizona; Kenneth Eddy of Amal, Sweden; Cori (Scott) Chvosta of Racine, MN; great-grandchildren, Alexander Raskin, Blair Lebeck, Andrew Raskin, Jay Lebeck, Tanner Chvosta and Shayla Chvosta. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen; his parents Elmer and Agnes Eddy; his brothers Norman (Beatha); Leland (Evelyn); and sister, Eleanor Ferguson (Ray); and his sister in laws Norma (Ray) Freel and Margaret Wonnell. Thank you to Chosen Valley Care Center - Assisted Living and Mayo Clinic Hospice where he had numerous friends and special care from the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers.  A special thank you to Dr. Thomas G. McLeod, Dr. Raymond Iezzi, Jr., Dr. Maryanna Destro, and Dr. Martin Ellman of Mayo Clinic for their outstanding medical care and support to our dad and family over the years. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota with the Reverend Mark Woodward officiating. Visitation is Friday 4-7 p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials are preferred to either Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, Minnesota, Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota, Minnesota or Mayo Clinic – Hospice, Rochester, Minnesota. A private burial will be held at the Saratoga Cemetery, Saratoga, Minnesota at a later date.
