Margaret Arlene Schneider

Margaret A. "Maggie" Schneider, 75 of Elgin, MN died Monday morning, at the home of her daughter, with her family by her side. Margaret was born March 25, 1951 in Wabasha to Leo and Alice (Blee) Schouweiler. She graduated from Plainview High School with the class of 1969, she then furthered her education getting a degree in nursing. Maggie was united in marriage to Melvin Schneider on January 29, 1972 in Plainview. She worked for various hospitals in Tallahassee, FL, Atlanta, Georgia, and then at St. Mary's in Rochester. Maggie enjoyed being with family, going to the beach, gardening, camping, traveling, and sewing. She had a gift for making every grandchild feel as though they were her absolute favorite.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Melvin and their five children Michael Schneider, MiChelle (Shawn) Johnson, Matthew (Nina) Schneider, Mark (Sara) Schneider, and Merrideth (Dan) Arnold, she is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Philip, Erik, Cassie, Tessa, Ty, Ella, Noah, Eli, Quinn and Nora, and two sisters Janice Lewis and Mary (Jay) Siewert. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers Robert and Gary.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Plainview with Father Tojy Jose officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday May 28, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Schad and Zabel Funeral Home (57 3 rd Street SW, Plainview, MN). Burial will be in the St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery in Kellogg, MN.
