Mark Allen Larson 61 of Plainview passed away peacefully on July 8, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, St. Mary's Campus, following a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Rochester on March 12, 1955 to Earl and Gladys (Peters) Larson. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1973. Mark married Kim Matzke in 1977 and they later divorced. Remaining friends since then, Kim graciously served as his caregiver throughout his illness. Mark worked at Crenlo and Lakeside Packing Co. and in 1979 he started his own business of 37 years, Larson Welding and Fabricating in Plainview. Mark raised elk for several years and he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing and hunting with his friends. Mark is survived by his mother Gladys Larson who resides at St. Isidore’s Nursing Home in Plainview; children, Spencer of Plainview and Farien (Dusty) Masanz of Richfield; 2 brothers, Leo (Barb), Edward (friend Chris) of Plainview and 2 sisters, Ruth (Marlyn) Moechnig of Frontenac, and Joan (Jim) Pyfferoen of Altura. He was preceded in death by his father. A memorial service will be Thursday, July 14, 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with Rev. Phil Augustine officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 4-7 pm at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
