Marlo Leon Milene was born February 8, 1930 to Henry and Gertrude (Perry) Milene in Saratoga, Minnesota. He attended Saratoga country school. On November 1, 1949 he married Mary Jo Keefe in Rochester. They farmed their entire married life south of Eyota. Mary Jo died July 31, 2002. Marlo moved to Golden Living Center in St. Charles four years ago. He was a longtime member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota and was a volunteer at the Resource Center in St. Charles. Marlo enjoyed deer hunting, playing cards, dancing, selling chickens, potatoes and onion’s, having a Schmidt with his friends and all of the 4th of July party’s at the farm. Marlo is survived by his daughter, Betty Pieper of Eyota; grandchildren, Jeff (Theresa) Milene of Pine Island, Marcy (Ron) Storm of St. Charles, Missy (Tim) Welsh of Eyota, Joe Pieper of Brackett, WI, April Decker of Las Vegas, Nevada,  Kelly (Don) Schaefer of Eyota, Sara (Jason) Kieffer of Eyota, Derek (Heather) Pieper of Brackett, WI; great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Tyler, Jessica Storm, Madison, Dakota, Tanner, Colton, Hailee, Spencer, Jackson and Peytin Welsh, Jordan, Keaton and Hadley Schaefer, Ophelia Kieffer, Jakkob, Karter, Paige Pieper, Alicia, Michael and Matthew Pieper; 1 brother, Bruce (Carolyn) Milene of Cheholis, Washington, 4 sisters, Isabelle Larson of Spring Valley, Caroline Robertson of Los Angeles, CA, Gertrude (Jim) Drazkowski of Winona, Karen Lappier of Minnesota City; and special cousin, Larry Donahue. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Jo, 1 son, Mike, 1 daughter, Mary, 1 grandson, Chad, 3 brothers, Barkley, Bud and Perry. Funeral Mass is Saturday, August 23, 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota with Father Kurt Farrell officiating. Burial is at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, 5-8 p.m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
