Mary Jane Dittrich age 73 passed away at Rochester Methodist Hospital on Sunday February 22, 2015. Mary Jane was born on October 5, 1941 to Marcus and Lucille (Lyden) Dittrich. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1959 and furthered her education at Winona Secretarial School. Mary Jane worked as a medical secretary at Gunderson Clinic, Lacrosse and also a legal secretary in Milwaukee,WI and Pompano Beach Florida. After moving to Stockton California she was self-employed. Later she was an event planner for the City of Stockton Asparagus Festival. She moved to Greensboro, NC in 2002 where she often worked with her sister-in-law, Cynthia, in her custom sewing business. She volunteered for outreach programs in Stockton and for Greensboro Adult Literacy. Mary Jane was a force of nature.  With her snapping blue eyes and colorful personality she could light up a room and have you laughing in no time. Mary Jane was a life long learner with a wide array of interests from gardening, decorating, sewing reading and traveling.  She loved making gourmet meals for family and friends. She was also the family historian and delighted in compiling a family album with old photos and detailed stories. Mary Jane is survived by siblings , Wayne Dittrich, Plainview, MN.,  John (Pat) Dittrich, Kellogg, MN.,  Kay (Bob) Rodrigue, Stanchfield, MN., Connie (Mike) Schad, Zumbro Falls, MN., Mark (Margaret) Dittrich, St. Paul, MN., Terry (Cynthia) Dittrich, Greensboro, NC., Rene (Brian) Schneider, Plainview, MN., Antoinette (Chip) Brumm, Lakeville, MN., and Michele (Bob) Jech, Eyota, MN., and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and Lucille Dittrich; siblings, Ervin and Margaret Dittrich, husband, Caesar Cortez, and great niece, Josie Ellinghysen. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, March 14, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview with Father William Becker officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joachim's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to:  American Red Cross, Carolinas Region, P.O.
