Mary J. (Jane) Larson, 62, of Plainview, MN died on Wednesday evening, May 27, 2026 at home following her battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Mary was born to Eugene (Gene) and Darlene (Wolf) Miller on March 19, 1964 and grew up in Conception, MN. Mary attended Plainview High School where she was active in band, choir and cheerleading. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1982. Mary also attended Rochester Vocational and Technical College. On June 8, 1985, Mary married Thomas (Tom) Larson at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and made their home in Plainview, MN.
Mary had a great love of family and always put her family first. She was so proud of her sons and grandsons. They brought her a great sense of joy whether it was watching her boys play basketball in high school or her grandsons participating in LaCrosse, ice hockey, soccer and skiing. She loved to share photos and video clips of their accomplishments. Mary had numerous skills and hobbies. She was a wonderful writer and editor. Mary composed many poems over the years and edited many papers. Mary loved crafting, scrapbooking and made many gifts for family and friends. In addition, she designed many graduation and wedding invitations. Mary also had a beautiful voice which she sometimes shared with others - singing the National Anthem at basketball games when her boys were in high school and singing for family weddings and funerals. Mary touched many lives in a very positive way. She will be greatly missed.
Mary spent the past 40 years working at Mayo Clinic as an administrative assistant and most recently as a supervisor of administrative assistants. Even through her cancer treatments Mary worked as her health would allow her. Individuals who worked with Mary throughout the years commented on her professionalism, dedication and commitment to service.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Tom; her two children - Eric (Aniela Szumilas) Larson and Andrew Larson; two grandchildren, Finn Larson and Rowan Larson; her mother, Darlene (Wolf) Miller; and siblings Jean (Ron) Klavetter, Bill (Paula) Miller, Sharon (Bill) Tice, Wayne (Ellen) Miller, Joanie (Mike) Lyons, John (Kris) Miller, and Kathy (Jerome) Schmidt. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Eugene (Gene) Miller, two infant brothers (Billy and Bobby), and a sister-in-law, Geralyn (Geri) Miller.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, from 4:00 to 8:00PM at Schad and Zabel Funeral Homes (57 Third Street, SW, Plainview, MN), as well as one hour prior to the Funeral Mass. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church (900 West Broadway, Plainview, MN) on Wednesday, June 3, with Father Tojy Jose officiating and Deacon Scott Schwalbe co-officiating. The burial will follow the funeral service at Saints Peter and Paul Conception Cemetery in rural Kellogg.
