Mary Evelyn (Senst) Schroeder, 87, a lifetime resident of Plainview, died Sunday,
November 15, 2020 at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview. Mary
was born August 18, 1933 in Highland Township, Wabasha County to Charles
and Isabelle (Graner) Kruger. She graduated from Plainview High School. On
February 7, 1953 she married Edgar Senst at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in
Plainview. Mary worked at Montgomery Wards in sales, then worked as a legal
secretary for Robert Dunlap and John McCarty and then worked as clerk for the
City of Plainview. She then owned and operated Senst Department Store in
Plainview from 1970-1997. Her husband Edgar, died February 29, 1992. On
December 27, 1996 she married Albert Schroeder at St. Joachim’s. Mary was an
excellent seamstress and made several wedding dresses. She taught ceramics
for a number of years. In retirement she and Albert wintered in Laughlin, Nevada
and enjoyed traveling. They loved cruises, either ocean or rivers. They traveled
the world.
Mary is survived by her husband Albert; 1 daughter, Gwen (Paul) Flies of
Kellogg; 3 grandchildren, Philip (Natalie) Flies, Jessica (Will) Reeves and Brian
(Suzanne) Flies; 7 great-grandchildren, Riley, Callie, Rowan, Reed, Ella, Declan
and Brynn; 2 sisters, Elaine Bierbaum and Mildred Brown and 1 brother Herb
Kruger.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Edgar, 1 son Jeffery Charles at
birth, 2 sisters, Rachel Binder and Ann Hayden and 2 brothers, Ralph and
Harold Kruger.
A private funeral mass will be Friday, November 20, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joachim
Catholic Church in Plainview with Fr. William Becker officiating. Burial will follow at
Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.
