Michael Klagge

January 17, 1950 — January 9, 2026

Michael Robert Klagge died peacefully at home on Friday January 9th, 2026.

Mike was born on January 17th, 1950 to Carl and Mary Lou (Petersen) Klagge in Winona, MN. After graduating from Winona Senior High School in 1969, Mike jumped on his motorcycle and ended up in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He didn't stay long and soon headed back to Minnesota. He began his construction career with the Winona Co Hwy Dept and went on to spend 40 years as a proud member of the I.U.O.E.

Mike married Kathy in 1984, and together they made their home in Weaver, where they raised their family. Mike was devoted husband, father, and grandfather who showed his love through his steady presence, strong work ethic, and quiet acts of care. Family always came first, and he took great pride in the life they built together.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mitchel. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Brian Lidtke (Ivy Rule) of Weaver, Amy (Mark) Slechta of St Francis, and Alex (Carly) Klagge of Winona; and his two grandchildren, Archie Slechta and Sienna Klagge.

Mike could most often be found on summer days catching sunfish, walleyes, and an occasional snooze! Some of his happiest moments were spent laughing with his grandchildren- whether hiding around corners during games of hide and seek or teaching them how to run R.C. bulldozers, a playful nod to the profession he took such pride in. He will be missed dearly by his family.
