In Loving Memory of Paul James West
February 14, 1959 - August 24, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Paul James West, who died peacefully wrapped in his wife's arms on August 24, 2026, at the age of 67 at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.
Paul was a true patriot who loved America. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle during his spare time. Paul and his wife Laurie made lasting memories during their trips to Sturgis. In fact, Paul asked Laurie, the love of his life, to marry him during one of their trips to Sturgis. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting (although he never intended to bag anything). He had the kindest heart and sensitive soul that he willingly shared with those he loved. He will be remembered for the love he gave to his family, and for the special place he held in the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will live on through his wife, mother and mother-in-law, children, siblings, friends, and all those who loved him.
Paul leaves behind his loving wife, Laurie, his children David (Jessica) Froisland, Danica (Kinnaly) Sithisane, and Dustin (Misty) Froisland, Laurie's daughters Rebecca Albrecht, Kathleen (Jed) Kappauf, Laura (Cody) Burroughs, Sarah (Cody Carpenter) Albrecht, Jennifer (Carter Weidemann) Albrecht, grandchildren Talon, Madox, Phoenyx, Mykel, Jake, Kenydee, Tyler, Aaron, Colin, Madasen, Ethan, Brodie, Caleb, Oliver, Nora, Waylon, Stetson, and Lucas.
Paul also leaves behind his beloved mother Naydine West and mother-in-law Donna Chapel. He will be deeply missed by his siblings Scott (Vickie) West, Donette (Keith), Christensen, Kurt (Clare) West, Rebekah (Richard) Herrmann, Sally (David) Schneider, and Lisa (Lonny) West Hovland. He is survived by many cherished nephews and nieces, extended family members, co-workers, and friends whose lives he touched along the way.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Donald E. West, father-in-law Charles L. Chapel, and his faithful dog Maggie.
We take much comfort in knowing that he loved Jesus and is now in heaven with Him. Though he is no longer with us, the love and memories he leaves behind will remain forever.
Rest peacefully, Paul. You are deeply loved, will be greatly missed, and will never be forgotten.
Our family is grateful to everyone who offered prayers, calls, and messages of support.
We wish to extend a special thank you to Caledonia Ambulance, Houston Ambulance and Fire Department, Emplify (Gunderson) Hospital and flight crew in La Crosse, M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina and their special staff including Josh, Shaelin, and Christine; Elder Ammon Gingerich and Pastor Mike at Root River Community Church.
We also extend a very special thank you to Pastor Larry Sipe, Jr. who offered his steadfast support and compassion to us throughout this difficult time.
